Rob is our Environmental Services Manager. The world of Environmental Services has changed completely over the last few years. No longer is it enough to be accommodating, friendly and hard working as a company. Now the main word is “be safe”.  But for us at Alchem these words are still followed by accommodating, friendly and hard working!

Rob understands the importance of Health and Safety and with him working closely with Lynne we feel confident that side of our business in good hands.

Rob takes the words “training” and “proof” very seriously and we feel confident that we can meet the very strict rules of our customers and the Health and Safety Executive.

Andy Casey
Job Title: Risk Assessment Supervisor
P: 0161 929 1482
E: andycasey@alchem-industries.co.uk
Carrying out a Legionella Bacteria Risk Assessment and ensuring it remains current is required under health and safety law and is a key duty when managing the risk of exposure to legionella bacteria.

In accordance with the recently revised Approved Code of Practice L-8, all cooling tower systems, hot and cold water systems and other risk systems need a risk assessment which is current at all times. The assessment should consider all aspects of the operation of water systems including safe start-up and shut-down procedures together with any foreseeable unusual occurrences.
Whilst there are common factors, the cooling tower or hot and cold system risk assessment must be site specific for the system under review, not a general document.

To make sure that the assessments meet all current of the H.S.E. standards, Andy Casey has been promoted to Risk Assessment Supervisor. Andy is responsible for training of the risk assessment team and ensure the accurate, smooth and timely completion of Legionella Bacteria and Pseudomonas Aeruginosa risk assessments.

Steven Mannion

Specific directions are given in the ACOP(L-8) and the associated technical guidance HSG724 part 2 for temperature monitoring, routine inspections and record keeping of hot and cold water systems. This has resulted in a massive influx of work.

Steven first started in the water hygiene industry in 2001 as a Environmental Service Technician, this is where he started to build his knowledge of hot and cold water systems, closed systems and cooling tower clean and disinfection.

After leaving the industry for a couple of years to become a telecoms engineer from 2007-2009 and gaining skills in the use of technology and how it can be used in many different industries he returned  to the water treatment industry in 2009 as a contract service engineer. This role involved carrying out all legionella control tasks for a major UK supermarket in the North West of England.

I then started in the water treatment department in 2011 as an account manager which evolved into my role as a Technical Sales Representative.

I have now undertaken the role of Water Hygiene Manager at Alchem where I have been tasked to manage this important department within the company. I will be responsible for the team and account managing our water hygiene clients. I will be making sure the department runs smoothly meeting the company's objective of continued growth in this highly competitive sector..
